Dr. Alicia Arbaje has been re-elected to a 2nd term as Chair of the Council of Subspecialty Societies (CSS) at the American College of Physicians (ACP)

Dr. Alicia Arbaje, MD, MPH, PhD, Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology, has been re-elected to a 2nd term as Chair of the Council of Subspecialty Societies (CSS) at the American College of Physicians (ACP). ACP is the largest medical specialty organization and second-largest physician group in the United States. The charge of the Council is “to act as a forum for the exchange of ideas between the College and subspecialty societies on matters affecting medicine in general and subspecialty societies in particular.” The Council of Subspecialty Societies consists of members of over 20 societies representing the subspecialties of internal medicine. In her role as Chair, Dr. Arbaje will again serve as a member of ACP’s Board of Regents and will address matters affecting the fields of internal medicine and related subspecialties, particularly on the issues of care transitions, care coordination, effective public health messaging, trustworthy patient-centered care, and physician well-being. As part of her first term as chair, Dr. Arbaje helped lead
- Publication and dissemination of two CSS-led ACP position papers on care coordination and transitions of care:
- Beyond the Discharge: Principles of Effective Transitions of Care:
- Beyond the Referral: Principles of Effective, Ongoing Primary and Specialty Care:
- Planning and execution of the first CSS-sponsored summit on obesity equity and trust, and she will lead a symposium on 4/18 regarding this at the upcoming ACP Internal Medicine Meeting in Boston
Prior to her election as Chair, Dr. Arbaje served a two-year term as Vice Chair, member of the ACP Board of Governors, and American Geriatrics Society representative to the Council. Special thanks to Bruce Leff who championed her initial application.
